What is padel?

Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport, blending the best of tennis and squash into a fast, fun, and social game. Played in doubles on an enclosed court, it’s easy to pick up but offers endless tactical depth for those who want to compete.

Rules and Gameplay

Serving

All serves in padel are underarm, with the ball struck below waist height before bouncing in the opponent’s service box. The serve must be hit diagonally across the court, just like in tennis, but the enclosed space and lower speed make it easier to return. If the ball touches the net and lands in the correct service box, the server gets another attempt.

Scoring

Padel follows the same scoring system as tennis—15, 30, 40, and game. To win a set, a team must secure six games with a two-game lead. If both teams reach 6-6, a tiebreaker decides the set. Matches are usually played in a best-of-three format, keeping the competition fast-paced and engaging.

Teamwork

Padel is usually played in doubles, which makes every match more tactical and social. The walls are part of the game, allowing players to return shots after they rebound, adding an exciting strategic layer. With a smaller court and long rallies, padel is all about quick reactions, teamwork, and smart shot placement rather than just power.
